Follow-up: Chimp denied legal protection

Scott Green | Follow-Up, Scott Says Blog | Thursday, January 17th, 2008

My October 4, 2007 column dealt with Matthew Hiasl Pan, an Austrian chimp seeking legal personhood so he could legally purchase marijuana.

Okay, the chimp wasn’t seeking it, his human “friends” sought it for him; and it wasn’t for marijuana, it was so he could host dogfights in his Atlanta mansion. But a judge has ruled, and things didn’t turn out so well for Matthew.
